REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian football society shocked by the death of legendary goalkeeper, Choirul Huda on Sunday (October 15). He passed away following an on-field collision with his teammate from Persela Lamongan, Ramon Rodriguez, and Semen Padang FC striker, Marcel Sacramento, as he tried to block an attempted goal.
Choirul who joined Persela Lamongan since 1999, was seen clutching his head and neck before being rushed to Dr. Soegiri Regional Hospital, Lamongan, East Java. One member of medical team said he was conscious and complained pain in the chest.

According to doctor Yuditiro Andri Nugroho, Choirul suffered a traumatic collision with his fellow players. Thus, the-38-year old player has difficulty breathing and cardiac arrest.
"According to the analysis, the beginning of the collision is in the chest and lower jaws.There is the possibility of chest trauma, head trauma and neck trauma," said official statement from Dr. Soegiri Regional Hospital.
Meanwhile, some public figures conveyed condolences to Choirul and his family. One of them was Minister of Social Affairs Khofifah Indar Parawansa who said it was a grief for all Indonesian soccer societies.
"Innalillahi wa innailahi rojiun, big condolences for the passing of Choirul, hopefully khusnul khotimah (many blessings await) and his family is given the patience and always strong," said Khofifah.
