REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) strolled along the popular Malioboro Street of Yogyakarta, along with traders and tourists, on Saturday night to review the economic activities in Yogyakarta city.

According to Antara's report in Yogyakarta, the president wearing a heart red shirt strolled along the street on the sidewalk of Jalan Malioboro which was occupied by a number of street hawkers. The visitors were surprised by the arrival of the number one person in Indonesia.

Merchants, clerks, and tourists were fighting for handshakes with the president. They also captured the special moments on their own smart phones.

Women and children, who were curious to meet the president, gathered along the sides of the road passed by the head of the state. In addition, Jokowi's son Gibran Rakabuming Raka, his wife Selvi Ananda, Jan Ethes Sri Narendra, and Kaesang Pangarep also accompanied the president during his visit to Malioboro Street.

Meanwhile, a bakpia (cake) trader named Wijaya (52) remarked that he was surprised to see the president. "I was very happy to see him, but it was difficult to take a picture as it was too crowded," he stated, explaining his desire to be photographed with the president.

Wijaya added that he and his family would go to Singapore to see the wax statue of Jokowi at Madame Tussauds Museum. "I will visit Singapore from Jan 8 to 13 to see the statue of Jokowi," Wijaya revealed.

While strolling on Malioboro, the president bought four shirts and four sandals.

Earlier, Jokowi and Iriana attended the wedding procession of Anisa Firdia Hanum, the daughter of Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, here, on Saturday. Hamun tied the knot with Rino Febrian at the Jogya Expo Center (JEC).

The head of state and first lady arrived at the JEC at 10:30 a.m. local time and congratulated Pratikno on his daughter's wedding.

Other VIPs attending the wedding procession included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Education and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendy, Chief of the Indonesian Police General Tito Karnavian, and Commander of the Indonesian Defense Forces Marshall Hadi Tjahjanto.

Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly Zulkifli Hasan and Chairman of the Regional Representative Council Sapta Odang were also present at the ceremony. Former National Police chief General Badrodin Haiti also arrived later for the wedding procession.
