REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Former terrorist prisoner, Ali Fauzi Manzi, who is dealing with deradicalization, said that terrorism is not an instant product born of a single decision. He explained it is the result of a long process.
"Not instantly. It takes a long process that slowly encourages one to commit violence in the name of God," Ali stated, while speaking at a public discussion on deradicalization, here, on Thursday.
He likened terrorism to a complicated disease, adding that terrorism is not single but interrelated. Therefore, the handling of terrorism case cannot be done through a single method, but it must involve many aspects, perspectives, and methodologies, he noted.
"Like a complicated disease, specialist doctors and prevention campaigns are needed by those who suffer from the disease. I am one of them," Ali, one of the Bali bombers, remarked.
