The volume of garbage is even more than the previous years. "We collects more than 50 tonnes garbage a day in Kuta Beach. The volume is much bigger than the same periode in 2011, which was 30 tonnes," the Head of Sanitation and Gardening in Badung, Bali, I Putu Eka Merthawan, said on Friday.
It is a big challange for the department to clean the beach as the garbage contains water and sand. The garbage started to pile up at Kuta Beach a week ago. It keeps piling and the number is increasing everyday. He predicted that bad weather caused the garbage to be piled up at Kuta Beach.
"We have cleaned 5,000 tonnes of garbage from November 2012 to January 24, 2013," he said.
