REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PADANG -- Department of Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) of West Sumatra and the National Craft Council (Dekranasda) of West Sumatra are organizing Minangkabau Fashion Festival on April 30 until May 2.
Chairman of Dekranasda in West Sumatra, Irwan Prayitno Nevi said, the main purpose of the Minangkabau Fashion Festival was to open up opportunities for creative industries in West Sumatra.
"West Sumatra has a great potential to be developed in the field of fashion. We try to develop the potential," he said in Padang, West Sumatra, on Thursday, April 30.
According to Nevi, West Sumatra craft is well known in both national and international arena. He hopes, with the Minangkabau Fashion Festival, West Sumatra handicrafts are increasingly recognized again.
"So that it could generate benefit to the people of West Sumatra," Nevi said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Tourism and Creative Economy of West Sumatra province, Bur Burhasman, said the event of was involving business and creative industries in West Sumatra. Especially, he added, the businesses in the field of fashion.
"We try to embrace all parties that this event actually provides benefits to the community of West Sumatra, not merely ceremony event," turur Burhasman.
