REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Tourism Minister Arief Yahya is scheduled to attend the First World Conference on Tourism for Development in Beijing, China, on May 19-20, 2016, according to a statement by the Ministry of Tourism released on Wednesday.

The statement revealed that Minister Yahya will deliver a speech at the conference and fulfill his promise made to the United Nations World Tourism (UN-WTO) Secretary General Thaleb Rival.

When Arief had met Thaleb at the "Wonderful Indonesia" pavilion in Berlin, Germany, some time ago, he had promised to attend the World Tourism Conference in Beijing, organized by China National Tourism Administration and the UN-WTO.

During the meeting in Berlin, the UN-WTO secretary general urged the Indonesian tourism minister to deliver a speech at the World Tourism Conference in Beijing.
