REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANTUL -- The police have mapped traffic accident-prone points on roads in the Bantul district following the accidents that occurred during the period January and February 2023.
"The Law Enforcement Unit (Gakkum) of the Bantul Police Traffic Unit has mapped the accident-prone points, namely Jalan Parangtritis and Jalan Imogiri," said Head of Public Relations of the Bantul Police Iptu I Nengah Jeffry Prana Widnyana in a statement in Bantul, Thursday.
In addition to mapping accident-prone points, he said, due to the high number of accident incidents in the Bantul area, the Bantul Police Satlantas Unit is also conducting an analysis of the hours prone to accidents.
"From the data that has been collected, it is known that accidents most often occur in the morning and evening," he said.
Based on data from the Bantul Police Satlantas Police Unit, the number of traffic accidents in this area in February was 156 cases, or decreased from data for January 2023 of 162 cases.
The case of a traffic accident in February 2023 killed 11 people with material losses of up to 53 million rupiah. Meanwhile, there were no serious injuries and 173 minor injuries.
Traffic accidents in January 2023, he said, resulted in six deaths, material losses of 71 million rupiah, no serious injuries, and 196 minor injuries.
He revealed, from this data the comparison of traffic accident incidents from January to February counted down 3.7 percent, while fatalities tended to increase 57 percent.
"Most of the traffic accidents in January and February were due to driver negligence. On the other hand, single accidents also dominated the incidents in the last 2 months," he said.
