REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of the Party for the Awakening of the Nation (PKB) DPR RI Cucun Ahmad Syamsul Rizal said that there was no coordination regarding the meeting of Nasdem Party General Chairman Surya Paloh and RI President Joko Widodo on Sunday (18/2/2024). He said it was the right of each party.

The PKB is known to be one of the parties that coalesced with the Nasdem Party in the Change Coalition, along with the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS). The three parties supported Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar 'AMIN' advanced as vice presidents in the 2024 presidential election with a vision of change, opposite to the Forward Indonesia Coalition (KIM) which supports the sustainability of Jokowi's program through the Prabowo-Gibran presidential campaigns.

“There is no related coordination, no meeting of parties in the AMIN Coalition, there is nothing,” Cucun told reporters on Sunday (18/2/2024).

Grandson said that meeting with President Jokowi was Surya Paloh's right. Instead of establishing communication with the Palace, Cucun said that the CLA is still focused on the calculation of votes for the 2024 presidential election, as well as waiting for the official announcement of the winner of the presidential election by the General Election Commission (KPU).

“That is Surya Paloh's right, if that is the case, and we must not interfere with the rights of all parties. We can't ban people either,” he said.

Grandson said it did not understand what kind of chat Surya Paloh and Jokowi discussed. The technical pun meets four eyes or a number of eyes. When asked about the possibility of Surya Paloh 'jumping' or coalitioning with the Palace side, Cucun did not want to comment further.

“We cannot believe that this is the right of the Nasdem Party,” he said.

Separately, PKB General Chairman, who is also the vice president of the Change Coalition, Muhaimin Iskandar shared a tweet on social media X in the form of a news post about Surya Paloh and Jokowi meeting on Sunday (18/2/2024) at 23.45 WIB. In his speech or caption, Muhaimin simply wrote the headline of the news, “PKB Takai Surya Paloh Meet Jokowi Without Coalition Coordination”, without writing any other statement.

Previously known, Indonesian President's Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana confirmed the meeting between President Jokowi and NasDem Party General Chairman Surya Paloh at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, Sunday (18/2/2024) tonight.

According to Ari, in the meeting discussed various matters, including political dynamics as well as elections. In addition, the two also met discussing the issue of nationality as well as various global challenges.

“Silaturahmi talks about national agendas, facing various global challenges, including issues related to political dynamics and elections,” Ari said. The meeting lasted about an hour.
