REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- PT Bank Jago Tbk through its sharia business unit (Jago Syariah) again supported the exhibition of halal products and sharia economy Halal Fair 2024 which took place in Yogyakarta, Friday (3/5/2024) to Sunday (5/5/2013). This support is a form of Bank Jago's commitment to support the development of the sharia economy and the Indonesian halal industry.

Head of Sharia Business Bank Jago Waasi Sumintardja said that Jago Sharia's participation in Halal Fair is in line with the aspiration to increase growth opportunities for millions of people through life-centric digital financial solutions. Through Jago Syariah, Bank Jago provides sharia banking products and services in the form of applications that are as advanced and equivalent to conventional banking, both in terms of ease, convenience, and security of transacting.

“Today, Indonesia is home to more than 230 million Muslims, the largest in the world. However, sharia banking products and services still do not seem to be the main choice compared to conventional banking products and services. Through Halal Fair, we want to introduce Jago Sharia to help customers achieve financial goals while improving national sharia literacy and finance,” Waasi said on Friday (3/5/2024).

As a technology-based bank embedded in the digital ecosystem, Jago Sharia's activities are not only supervised by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) but also overseen by the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Ulama Assembly (DSN-MUI). In addition, the deposits of Jago Syariah customers are also guaranteed by the Sharia Financing Institution (LPS).

Waasi hopes Halal Fair can be a means of incubating halal business people, especially micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Not only that, this kind of Sharia degree is also expected to further introduce Sharia financial products and services to the wider community that can enhance the growth of the national sharia economy.

“Jago Sharia is committed to always being ahead in sharing the good, namely by presenting financial solutions based on Sharia principles, which can help the management of customers' finances practically together with the people closest to them,” Waasi said.

Over the next three days, Jago Syariah will provide many interesting promos for visitors and tenants participating in the 2024 Halal Fair series.

“During the exhibition, we will give free admission to new customers of Jago Syariah and we also offer special promos for transactions in tenant-tenants of our partner MSME products. Not only that, Jago Sharia will also provide financial education to young couples and families in Yogyakarta so that they are always in front of regulating household finances in Sharia” explained Waasi.

There are about 111 brands from different business categories at Halal Fair 2024 Yogyakarta, ranging from muslim fashion products, halal beauty products, haji/umrah travel, education, culinary, banking and sharia finance, as well as other multiproducts. By participating in the event, the people of Yogyakarta and its surroundings not only have the opportunity to shop for halal products at special prices but also can simultaneously meet, improve networking and business skills, and travel sharia with their families.

Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) is one of the eight provinces included in the national sharia economic development priority, in addition to Aceh, West Sumatra, South Sulawesi, South Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), East Java, and West Java.

According to the records of the Cooperative Department and DIY Small and Medium Enterprises, it was noted that more than 300 thousand MSMEs grew in the area of Student City. Unfortunately, only about 0.1 percent of MSMEs are certified halal. Halal Fair series is one of the highlights to encourage all relevant parties, especially MSMEs and related authorities to optimize the potential of the national halal industry.
