REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ahead of the International Brotherhood Day which is celebrated every February 4, the Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance (Bimas Islam) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs published a circular on the theme of Khutbah Friday on January 31 and February 7, 2025.

This circular is addressed to the Head of the Regional Office of the Provincial Ministry of Religion/Chairman of the provincial BKM, Head of the Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the kab. /City/Chairman of BKM kab. /city, Head of the Religious Affairs Office of Kecamata/Chairman of BKM of the sub-district, the Chairmen of BKM Kelurahan/village, and Chairman of the Council of Prosperity of Mosques throughout Indonesia.

The International Day of Human Fraternity is designated by the United Nations (UN) on February 4, 2019. This determination is in connection with the signing of the 'Charter of the Brotherhood of Man' by Grand Sheikh Al-Azhar Ahmed Al Tayeb and the Leader of the Catholic Church Pope Francis in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

“In support of the commemoration, as last year, we issued a circular calling on Friday's Khatib to deliver messages of human brotherhood (ukhuwah insaniyah) at the two Friday prayers on January 31, 2025 and February 7, 2025,” said Bimas Islam Kemenag Director General Abu Rokhmad in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/1/2025).

In particular, he said, there are two main messages that he wants to emphasize on the anniversary of the International Day of the Brotherhood of Man 2025. First, the Joint Movement Empowers People with Disabilities for an Inclusive Future. Second, Take Care of the Environment.

“These two main messages are in line with President Prabowo's Asta Cita and Vice President Gibran,” Abu Rokhmad said.
