REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, Jakarta--PP Muslimat NU General Chairman Khofifah Indar Parawansa said Muslimat will commit to reducing stunting. The concrete step that has been taken is that Muslim citizens have established foster mothers throughout Indonesia.
Khofifah said Muslimat involvement lowered stunting as an effort to set up a future golden generation. The hope is that a competent and qualified generation will be born. Khofifah insists Muslimat is ready to mobilize all the potential that this organization has to bring down stunting.
“There is a pledge, Muslimat commitment to lower stunting,” Khofifah said during the 78th Harlah Muslimat Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Summit and 101st Harkah of NU, at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta, Saturday (20/1/2024).
The event, which was attended by hundreds of thousands of Muslims from all over Indonesia, was also attended by President Joko Widodo. Police Chief, Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Army Commander Agus Subiyanto, Menag Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Yenny Wahid, Sinta Nuriyah Wahid, and a number of PBNU officials also attended.
In order to affirm its commitment to reduce stunting, Muslimat NU made a declaration of reduction of stunting. First set up the golden generation to give birth to competent and qualified HR.
Secondly, Muslimat NU is ready to become a foster mother to lower stunting in Indonesia. All three NU Muslims have made concrete steps through the establishment of foster mothers for children indicated by stunting and have obtained a MURI record. The four developed networks for acceleration of stunting decline. And activating the potential of Muslim NU for fulfillment of needs, giving birth to a healthy, strong and integrity generation is the fifth.
Stunting is a national issue of concern to the central government. The government has targeted the prevalence of stunting to be 14 per cent by 2024 where in 2019 it is 27.6 per cent and falling in 2023 to 21.6 percent.
