REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MATARAM -- Presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan conducted a great campaign activity in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Tuesday (4/2/2024). Campaign activity in Lombok was coloured by a number of minor events from Anies sympathisers.

Since the morning, residents have been gathering at the main campaign site, namely in Karangpule Public Square, Sekarbela, Mataram, NTB. The residents carried a number of campaign attributes of which the majority were Nasdem Party and Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) flags.

Then there are a number of flags of the National Awakening Party (CLA) anyway. At about 10:15pm, Anies with his wife and doughter, Mutiara Baswedan and his entourage arrived at the campaign site. Anies was driven by car across a crowd of humans that had been waiting for him across a field under the scorching sun.

The residents showed their high enthusiasm for the former Governor of DKI Jakarta. Due to the high enthusiasm of the community, as Anies was moving towards the stage, there were a number of people who fainted from the jostling. Some audience members in the area near the stage were evacuated. It looked like an ambulance was approaching.

The campaign continued with an oration delivered by Anies. Oration activities and so on last about 2 hours. Anies promised to make changes to Lombok residents from affordable food prices to ease of getting a job. After orating, Anies was about to deliver a press conference to the media on the right side of the stage, but he was mobbed by residents. One by one people asked in a forceful way to be able to take a picture with Anies.

Since it was not possible, a press conference or doorstop was eventually performed on stage. The stage almost collapsed The campaign stage even nearly collapsed due to the sheer number of people riding it.
