REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- A number of Bandung City residents enlivened the 2024 election by raising the concept of recycling garbage disposal into an environmentally friendly polling Booth (TPS) in Nyengzet Village, Astanaanyar District. Chairman of the Election Organizing Group (KPPS) of TPS 25 Sandi Syarif explained that the concept is an effort to preserve the environment while increasing voter turnout by utilizing garbage banks located in her area.
“Actually, this garbage bank is an appeal from the Bandung City Government regarding the sorting of garbage, both organic and organic,” Sandi said in Bandung, Wednesday (14/2/2024).
Sandi said that with this eco-friendly concept it becomes an educational material for people to collect and recycle used items into more valuable value.
“These garbage banks are from materials that are usually thrown away or sold, but we make them in such a way for decoration so that people know that when garbage is processed into something, its selling value can be more expensive,” he said.
Furthermore, Sandi said with this eco-friendly polling station concept, it has been able to invite community participation in efforts to preserve the environment while voicing their voices on election day.
“The enthusiasm of the citizens is good, yes, because of the work they work with. There are also a lot of other polling stations to come and take photos here,” he said.
Earlier, Bandung City Election Commission (KPU) Chairman Wenti Frihadiati said his party held a unique polling station in 2024 elections.
“For unique polling stations, we do hold sayembara, even including video content, for example, during the general election process what kind of activities are,” Wenti said.
He explained that this event was done as an effort to give a positive feel and democratic spirit in Bandung City.
“Later we will get a reward, we also have cooperation with the Communication and Informatics Department of Bandung City, which hopefully will be followed up with Bank BJB as well,” he said.
