REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Prabowo Subianto made sure President Jokowi never intervened in the conduct of the local elections (local elections) at the same time 2024. In fact, he revealed, Jokowi never named anyone to be nominated in the election.

“I assure you there is no such thing. Mr. Jokowi, I met many times, he never said 'please this... do this', there was no. I assure you there is none,” Prabowo said during a speech at the VI PAN Congress at the Grand Ballroom of Kempinski, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (24/8/2024) evening.

He dared to take responsibility for that statement. According to Prabowo, Jokowi has never interfered in the 2024 election. “I say it has to be right, right and wrong, wrong. I am accountable, Mr. Jokowi has never adopted these measures, never,” said the defense minister, who was elected President of the Republic of Indonesia 2024-2029.

According to Prabowo, for the 2024 elections, Gerindra has handed it over to younger cadres. He said he would not question who would later be the local chief candidate who would be elected.

“Whoever is chosen, there is no problem. There is no (problem) for us. Go ahead,” Prabowo said.

He added that it also never interfered with other political parties in making decisions. According to Prabowo, each party has its own sovereignty in determining the candidates to be fielded in the 2024 elections.

He pointed out that between the Gerindra Party and the PAN, the pair of candidates carried is not always the same in every region. That is, each party has its own decision to determine the choice.

“Sometimes we're the same PAN, sometimes we're not, ya monggo, right? No business, please. There is no intervention,” Prabowo said.
