“It reminds us not only that the Istiqlal Mosque stands next to the Cathedral Church, but the one who designed Istiqlal whose architect was appointed by our first President was precisely not a Muslim, the architect was a Christian. This is the greatness of the Indonesian nation,” Prabowo said at the beginning of the story.

Prabowo later said that he followed the steps of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno, by building a mosque in Hambalang, with a Nasrani architect.

“My little ones also built a mosque in Hambalang. Yes, I am with Bung Karno, who designed the design of my mosque there, a Catholic,” Prabowo said.

The president stressed Indonesia has a tradition that differences are not an obstacle to unity.

“It is our tradition that we are different religions, different customs, but we are one in a big Indonesian family,” the head of state said.

The president called on all sides to maintain concord. Prabowo said only with peace will Indonesia be prosperous, just and prosperous.
