REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BERLIN -- A German foreign ministry spokesman here Monday 'welcomed' the latest positive report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Iran's nuclear program, saying Tehran had so far fulfilled its obligations.
Talking to the press, Martin Schaefer said the fact that Iran had complied with its IAEA obligations was 'an important if not to say also decisive requirement for the negotiation process' with six world powers (the US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany).
He reiterated all sides were focusing on reaching a nuclear deal by July 20 when the interim six-month agreement expires.
Schaefer expressed hope that a deal could be sealed by that time by finding answers to the still unresolved questions on the Iranian nuclear issue.
Iran on Saturday said the latest UN report on its nuclear activities proved its nuclear program was peaceful.
"The report is an affirmation of Iran's claim to peaceful activities," the spokesman of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, Behruz Kamalvandi told IRNA.
"No deviations have been seen in these activities," he added.
