In ASEAN Summit, Indonesia talks about terrorism

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUALA LUMPUR -- Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi, stated Indonesia will convey the importance of cooperation in addressing and overcoming radicalism and terrorism in 27th ASEAN Summit which was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She said, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will conduct bilateral meetings with a number of parties, including the UN Secretary General.

"What will be discussed with the UN Secretary General is global issues, including radicalism. Indonesia played a major role in handling it," she continued, Saturday (21/11).

Related to the problem of refugees, Retno said, it was not only a responsibility of a country. International cooperation should be enhanced, including the issue of human trafficking.

Retno revealed, Indonesian Government's visit to Kuala Lumpur was to attend 10 summits and a number of bilateral meetings. For bilateral meetings, in addition to meeting with the UN Secretary General, President Jokowi will also meet three heads of state, namely New Zealand, Japan and Vietnam.

"There are three documents that will be signed, among others, related to the handling of human trafficking especially of children and women, the stability of the ASEAN community, and the implementation of AEC," she added.
