REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Islamic organizations and Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) criticize the event of Miss World which is planned to be held in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia.

The Chairman of MUI, Amidhan, mentioned that West Java was known as religious province. "The event contradicts religious spirit. The committee could make people upset," Amidhan said on Friday.

Amidhan suggests the the committee of Miss World to hold the event in other areas, such as Bali, which is known as international tourist destination. It is also usual for tourists to wear bikini in Bali. Amidhan said that beauty contest was always related to swimwear and revealling dresses.

"Relocating the even to Jakarta will not stop us from objecting it," he said.
