REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BUKITTINGGI -- A university named after Indonesia's fifth prime minister, Mohammad Natsir, was inaugurated in the West Sumatra provincial city of Bukittinggi on Saturday.
The Mohammad Natsir University, under the auspices of the Islamic Hospital Foundation in the province, obtained license number 501/E/0/2014 from the Ministry of Education and Culture, Zainul Daulay, the chairman of Yarsi, said.
He added that the university will focus its teachings on health sciences, like the College of Health Sciences (Stikes) opened by the foundation in Bukittinggi earlier.
Daulay further noted that to support the new university, the foundation has provided a hospital where students can practice.
The departments in the university include those of nutritional sciences, physics, chemistry, biology, hospital administration, law, public administration, pharmaceuticals, and accounting, as well as Arabic literature as an S1 study program (undergraduate).
Mohammad Natsir, who was born in Solok district, West Sumatra, on July 17, 1908, and passed away on March 14, 1993, in Jakarta, was an Islamic scholar and politician, as well as also Indonesia's fifth prime minister.
