REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of Indonesian Council of Ulema KH Ma'ruf Amin assessed, the rejections against some clerics have to be observed carefully. He also said, the cause of emerging rejections to some clerics should be traced.
Kiai Ma'ruf called on every preachers not to slander each other. He remarked that every preachers must have limits and not to defame other groups. Therefore, such rejections could be avoided.
"I think, the cause must be traced. The preachers also must have limits, not to hit the surroundings. It will be dangerous," he said when contacted by Republika.co.id on Wednesday (November 8).
Kiai Ma'ruf who is also the Rais Aam of Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) stated, every preachers should deliver their speech politely so they would not hurt other party.
He believed, it is important for the preachers who ever been rejected by the society to have commitment not to trigger other party's anger.
He saw no harm to the teaching of Salafi and Wahabi as long as it did not spread extreme doctrine to young generation.
Recently, rejection to some clerics and dismissal of sermons emerged in some regions, among others Cirebon, Sidorajo, Malang, Semarang. Last week, Felix Siauw was asked to stop his sermon in Bangilan, Pasuruan, East Java.
Meanwhile, Bachtiar Nasir also prevented to attend grand sermon in Garut, West Java on Saturday (November 11). Previously, he also failed to preach in Cirebon, West Java.
Responding to the rejection to his presence at some regions, cleric Bachtiar urged Muslims not to be provoked and always kept the unity.
"What ever happened, it should never beat our spirit to unite," he said in a written statement received by Republika.co.id, on Tuesday (November 7).
