REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Chairman of Democrat Party, Anas Urbaningrum, and his Secretary-General Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono alias Ibas, almost got attacked on Thursday by a group of people in Babullah Airport, Ternate, in North Maluku. Later, Ibas said that the Central Board of Democrat would investigate the incident.

"If the incident leads to a conspiration, the Central Board of Democrat will proceed it," the son of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said in written statement on Thursday.  

He further added that such action was intolerable and violated organizational ethics.  "Whatever the reason must be solved in rational way."

Anas and Ibas planned to attend North Maluku Democrat’s Local Convention. They and other members of Democrat Central Board just arrived at the airport when a group of people who self proclaimed as the supporter of North Maluku’s Chairman of Democrat Thaib Armaiyn, came in. Some of them beat two members of Democrat Central Board named Ibrahim and Syarif, while Ibas and Anas successfully got away from the incident. 

“Ibas and Anas are fine,” the Vice Secretary-General of Democrat, Saan Mustopa, said. He added, the local branch of Democrat seemingly did not anticipated such incident. Mustopa also said that the attackers were not from Democrat.
