REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - First Lady Ani Yudhoyono held a dialog with the representatives of senior citizens from 33 provinces at the State Palace on Tuesday. The gathering was held to mark the peak event of the National Senior Citizens Day (HLUN).

In the dialog directed by Haryono Suyono, the first lady said the success of development was reflected by the improvement of the senior citizens` life expectancy. Ani Yudhoyono said the improvement in life expectancy has caused the number of senior citizens to increase from year to year.

According to Law No.13/1998 on the welfare of senior citizens, a person who has reached over 60 years old is classified into a senior citizen. She noted that aging process would have a negative impact on the senior citizens` social, economic, and health aspects. The first lady -was rumored to run the next presidential elections- encouraged the senior citizens to maintain healthy lifestyle to stay healthy, productive, and independent. In recent weeks, the rumor said that Any Yudhoyono would run for presidential elections in 2014.
