REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - National Commission of Human Rights (Komnas HAM) will send a letter to ASEAN Commission of Human Rights over the violence on Rohingya ethnic group. The letter urges ASEAN Commission to take immediate step towards the humanitarian violations.

The Chairman of Komnas HAM, Ifdhal Kasim, said the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights must involve actively in problem resolution in Arakan due to massive wave of refugees in their jurisdiction.

Ifdhal suggests the Commission to initiate a dialog between Burmese military and government and ASEAN Commission of Human Rights. "At least they criticize the military and government of Myanmar," he said then added “Their silence will only raise question on their role in this issue.”
