REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Minister of Finance, Agus Martowardojo, claimed that he was ready for fit and proper test at the House of Representatives, as he was nominated by the president to fill the position of governor of Bank Indonesia.

"President has chosen the candidate and I have to follow the rules as required including going to the House," Martowardojo said on Thursday.

Martowardojo and Raden Pardede were nominated for governor of BI in 2008. Martowardojo was failed to get highest vote as he only obtained 22 percent of votes. Martowardojo claimed that many members of the House did not use their vote at that time. "Back then, the members had the third choice, which was vote not to vote," he said.

Martowardojo said that he would use this opportunity wisely. He promises to maintain inflation and stability of financial system. He also suggests that BI needs to convert its system of bank monitoring to Financial Service Authority (OJK).
