REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian Ambassador to Romania, Mariana Sutadi said Indonesian cocoa and coffee were famous in Romania. Romanian people like both Indonesian commodities and consider them as good quality products.

"There a lot of demands for Indonesian cocoa and coffee as many chocolate factories in here and Romanians loved to drink coffee," Sutadi said on Tuesday. 

Unfortunately, not many Indonesian businessmen export those commodities since they underestimate Romanian population which is quite small, only 20 million people. Sutadi has sent a letter to Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry to respond the export opportunity, but no response.  

Director General of National Export Development at Ministry of Trade came to Romania and brought a number of businessmen, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The visit is expected to boost trade between both countries.

Sutadi said that Indonesian entrepreneurs must see opportunity offered by Romania since the country could open door to enter other eastern countries of Europe like Bulgaria, Hungary, and Serbia. "Romania had a large port which could be penetrated by large vessels in Constanta, the Black Sea," he said.

Romania's gross domestic products (GDP) percapita is also relatively high reached 13,000 USD. During this time, many Indonesian consumer products entered the country, such as crackers, soy sauce, noodles, as well as straws and cups.
