Indonesia to host a forum of vaccine manufacturers of OIC countries

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG - Indonesia will host the second meeting of vaccine and medicine manufacturers among countries of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) on June 16-19, 2013. M Rahman Rustan as a corporate secretary of a vaccine maker, Bio Farma, said the meeting would take place in Bandung, West Java.

"Enthusiasm to produce vaccine among Islamic countries is great. There are seven of 57 OIC countries are vaccine makers. They are Indonesia, Egypt, Iran, Senegal, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Morocco," Rustan said on Saturday.

Countries with capabilities to produce vaccines have obligation to share their experience and expertise needed by other Islamic countries since controlling the spread of virus is part of global resposibilities.

World Health Organization has recognize Indonesia as a vaccine producing country through Bio Farma. The company also manufacture and supplier. Now the Indonesian product has been used in other countries, indlucing a number of Islamic countries.
