Fuel price hike has no impact in June inflation

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Statistics Indonesia announced the consumer price index or inflation was 1.03 percent in June 2013. Thus, the rate of inflation recorded 5.90 percent year on year (yoy).

Head of Statistics Indonesia, Suryamin compared inflation in June 2008 due to increase in fuel prices. The results, inflation in June 2013 is much lower than 2008 level of 2.46 percent.

"We concluded fuel price hike does not affect in June inflation. It's above one percent but not high," Suryamin said on Monday.

Suryamin said inflation in June is quite high every year. For example, inflation in June 2009 was 0.11 percent, June 2010 (0.90 percent), June 2011 (0.55 percent), June 2012 (0.62 percent) and June 2013 (1.03 percent).

base on survey in 66 cities in Indonesia, as many as 65 cities experienced inflation, while one city (Ambon, Maluku province) experienced deflation. The highest inflation recorded 1.79 percent in Depok, West Java. Deflation in Ambon was helped by a low fish prices and production due to nice weather.
