REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG - Ten team of Musi Triboatton began to race down Musi River started on Tuesday. It officially opened by Vice Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sapta Nirwandar.
The teams come from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, United Kingdom and Ireland. They will compete from upstream to downstream of the river cross South Sumatra. There are two teams from South Sumatra the host, also a team from Bangka Belitung, West Java, Jakarta, Jambi, Malaysian, Singaporean, British and Irish teams. They all will start from Tanjung Raya district in Empat Lawang district.
Governor of South Sumatra, Alex Noerdin explained that the distance of first stage reached 35 kilometers (KM), from Tanjung Raya - Padang Jering - Jembatan Kuning. Second stage has length of 140 KM, from Tebing Tinggi to Muara Kelingi. Third stage has length of 165 KM, Muara Kelingi to Sekayu. Sekayu – Pengumbuh. Fourth stage has length of 165 KM, from Muara Kelingi to Sekayu. The last stage has length of 75 KM, from Pengumbuh – Palembang.
"They will finish in Palembang," Noerdin said on Tuesday.
Noerdin said that the competition has total prize of 300 million IDR and took place on November 16-22, 2013. Musi Triboatton 2013 is a championship to race down Musi River as far as 400 KM using traditional cruises. All participants will compete in categories of rafting, canoeing and dragon boat.
