REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The government plans to build six more thermal power plants with a capacity of 9.320 MW in Java.

The power plants are part of the second phase of fast track program (FTP-2), according to Regulation of the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister No.21/2013, a copy of which was made available here on Wednesday.

The new regulation is a revision of old regulations No. 2/2010, 15/2010, and 1/2012.

Two of the six thermal power plants will be built by state electricity company PT PLN. They are PLTU Indramayu with a capacity of 1x1,000 MW and PLTU Jawa 6 with a capacity of 2x2,000 MW, both in West Java.

Meanwhile, four of the thermal power plants will be built by independent power producers. They are PLTU Jawa 1 with a capacity of 1x1,000 MW, PLTU Jawa 3 with a capacity of 2x660 MW, and PLTU Jawa 5 with a capacity of 2x1,000 MW, all in West Java, and PLTU Jawa 4 with a capacity of 2x1,000 MW in Central Java.

The six thermal power plants with a capacity of 9,320 MW represent 52 percent of all FTP-2 projects with a combined capacity of 17,918 MW.

The FTP-2 covers 76 projects with a combined capacity of 17,918 MW.
