REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKANBARU - Three people have been suspected of being infected with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona virus (MERS-CoV), now under medical treatment in this Riau capital city. The three were given special medical treatment in isolated rooms, head of the provincial health service Zainal Arifin said on Wednesday.

The result of laboratory test had not come from Jakarta to confirm the disease suffered by the three patients, Zainal said refusing to give names.

"They just returned from an umroh pilgrimage and they had indication of MERS-CoV," he added.

Doctor Azizman Saad, a lung specialist who takes care of the MERS-CoV patients said the three had high fever and difficulty in breathing. Two of the patients are being treated at the state hospital of RSUD Arifin Achmad and one at a private hospital of RS Awal Bros.

"Now the condition of the patents improved . The fever has diminished," Saad said.

Last Sunday, a suspected MERS patient KHS (64) died at the hospital of RSUP Haji Adam Malik in Medan. KHS suffered respiratory disease after return from umrah pilgrimage. Yet, his laboratory test showed negative of MERS-CoV.

Earlier, Director General of Hajj and Umrah from Ministry of Religious Affairs, Anggito Abimanyu, said that Indonesia had followed the recommendation from World Health Organization and Saudi's Ministry of Health. The recommendation says that no travel restriction needed so far.

"WHO issued travel advice related to MERS CoV issue. Yet, the world's body has not restricted any visit to Saudi," Abimanyu said on Tuesday.
