New minister vows to curb inflation during Eid al Fitr

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The new appointed Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Chairul Tanjung, vowed to curb inflation rate on basic needs during Eid al Fitr, the most celebrated Islamic festivity amng Muslims. 

"Usually, supply always poses a problem leading to the rocketing price on our basic needs," Tanjung said after his inauguration on Friday. 

Hence, Tanjung determined to prepare all stake holders to control basic needs' price to keep inflation stable until the end of the year. The chairman of National Economic Committee (KEN) criticized the previous policy which weighing more on demands instead of supply. 

Tanjung replaced Hatta Rajasa after the later submitting his resignation letter to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Rajasa, a politician of National Mandate Party (PAN), will be nominated as vice president for the next presidential election in July.
