REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) will remain closed on July 9 in view of presidential election, press statement from BEI's CEO Ito Warsito said here on Tuesday.
Warsito explained that the decision to close the BEI was based on the General Election Commission (KPU)'s Regulation Number 19, which stated that the day of election will be a national holiday.
Indonesia is to hold presidential election on July 9, 2014.
The presidential election is contested by the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa pair and the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla duo.
According to the KPU, a total of 186,722,030 voters have been registered, with 486,866 polling stations across the archipelago.
