INSA protests increase in port tariffs

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian Association of Ship Owners (INSA) protested an increase in port tariffs.

The tariff rise followed a decision of the Transport Ministry raising its target for non tax state income set at Rp8 trillion.

An INSA chairman Witono Suprapto said here on Monday ship owners protested the increase in a number of port tariffs such as shipping tariffs that rose 5 percent.

"A study abroad the increase in shipping tariff is only 3 percent, but here it is higher than 5 percent," Witono said.
