REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Weak coordination between government agencies contributes to the increasing of terrorism. A member of parliament (MP) in Commission III of House of Representatives, Adang Daradjatun, asked the Coordinating Ministry of Politic, Law, and Security to strengthen cooperation between State Intelligence Agency (BIN) and National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT).
Their performance is considered weak due to the latest terrorism. "The performance of intelligence must be improved by coordinating each other," Daradjatun said on Wednesday.
Another member of Commission III, Eva K Sundari, stated that government must conduct preventive act than suppression. The main problem is that the focus of the deradicalization strategy is only for the ex-terrorists. Government is not able to touch new recruitment of terrorist, such as through website.
"Preventive act is important to make the cooperation of BIN, BNPT, and other law enforcements run effectively," she said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Indonesian Preacher Association (IKADI) Ahmad Satori Ismail emphasized on the development of preacher's and ulama's ability on deradicalization. He said that ulama had a responsibility to found people on deradizalization.
Terrorism observer, Al Chaidar, said BNPT must directly hold the groups proven to spread radicalism that led to terrorism act. "So far BNPT is only conducting some seminars," he said.
The Deputy Chairman of BIN, Ma'ruf Sjamsoedin, said Police and Armed Forces currently had intense cooperation. "BIN has intelligent community. Everything is delivered in the community," Sjamsoedin said.
