REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR - A joint team of around 3,600 personnel of Indonesian police and Army (TNI-AD) has been deployed here to guard against protests by thousands of workers demanding improvement in their welfare, Bogor police spokesman has said.
"We have deployed a joint team of security personnel in several locations and also secured six toll gates in Bogor Regency in order to make sure that the workers do not block the highways," Head of Operations of Bogor Resort Police, Commissioner Zulkarnaen Harahap said on Monday.
According to him, the workers from various labour unions will gather at several locations, such as Sentul, Gunung Putri, Cileungsi, Cibinong, and the office of Bogor regency administration in Cibinong. The workers demand better life standard and the revocation of the outsourcing system, the regional monthly minimum wages amounting 3.2 million rupiah per person, and implementation of health insurance for all Indonesian citizens by January 1, 2014.
