REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG - Incumbent Governor of West Java Ahmad Heryawan and his running mate Deddy Mizwar are now on track to lead West Java until 2018 as General Elections Commission on Sunday declared them as the winners of the election.
The result shows that the pair who are backed by Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) finish with 32.9 percent of vote. They immediately win after their close competitor, Rieke Diah Pitaloka - Teten Masduki, only get 28.41 percent of votes. Meanwhile, the outgoing Vice Governor Dede Yusuf and Lex Laksamana, backed by Democratic Party, finish third with 25.24 percent of vote, followed by Irianto MS Syafiuddin and Tatang Farhanul Hakim who are backed by Golkar Party with 12 percent. Independent candidate Dikdik Mulyana Arif Mansyur and Cecep Nana Suryana Toyib finish last with only 1.79 percent.
"We declare Ahmad Heryawan - Deddy Mizwar as the Governor and Vice Governor of West Java from 2013 to 2018," the Head of Law and Technical Department at West Java General Election Commission, Teppy W Dharmawan, said on Sunday.
Ahmad Heryawan said the victory belonged to people of West Java. He emphasized that governor and the deputy did not belong to any coalition. He also said people must work together to build West Java. His running mate, Deddy Mizwar, does not have any experience in the government, but he said that Mizwar was a fast-learner.
