Jakarta to buy European-made buses for TransJakarta

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Deputy governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said that government of the capital city  would buy European-made buses for PT TransJakarta next year. He emphasized the importance of using good quality buses for Jakarta. 

Purnama said that European-made busses could be used within 20-30 years. Government has prepared several procurements from Swedish company, Scania, this year, followed by Mercedes-Benz in 2015.

Scania bus has carried out a trial period in Singapore could survive for 20 years, followed by 10 years in Africa after that. Purnama expected that PT Transjakarta could hold a general meeting this month before they purchased a large number of buses.
