REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Jawa Barat, Agung Suryamal Sutrisno said that there was a positive signal on law enforcement for business and investment permit in the region. Government through Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will enforce the law on abused authority in the permitting process.
KPK previously arrested local officials, including Bogor regent Rahmat Yasin, who was reportedly caught accepting billions of rupiah in bribes in relation to the issuance of permits for 3,000 hectares of protected forest for housing projects.
"The law enforcement over them certainly spawned a lawsuit regarding a change in licensing system, especially land conversion in districts and cities," Sutrisno said recently.
Land conversion licensing becomes the authority of local government, in this case the regent or mayor. It needs an optimal control system and thus effectively reducing the potential abuse of authority.
"Cities and districts must ease the investment permit," Sutrisno added.
The ease of investment should not violate related regulation. The current procedure is taken, but still requires a high cost. Mutia Ramadhani/Antara
