REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) asked Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and supporters of Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Jusuf Kalla (JK) to not sell ministerial seats in the its cabinet. The next ruling party should focus to design the pro-people agenda.
"Do not sell the ministerial seats," Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) lawmaker Fahri Hamzah said on Wednesday.
According to him, the domination of Red and White Coalition in parliament must not be the reason for Jokowi and JK to see it as a threat since the presidential system does not allow parliament to decommission president. The solidity will be good for democracy because parliament can control government policy. The system of checks and balances is an important part of the Constitution.
For example, President can issue a government regulation in lieu of law (Perpu) if he does not agree with legislation passed by the House of Representatives. President can also use previous state budget if the draft of state budget tripped by parliament.
"Parliament cannot dissolve the government. Government can run by itself," he said.
According to Hamzah, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has given a large fiscal space to Jokowi and JK. Both of leaders must focus to realise their promises in political campaign.
"He (Jokowi) has to thank you to Yudhoyono who already gave a large fiscal space. The new government can work directly with a large state budget," Hamzah added.
