REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- Minister of Interior Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo suspends electronic  identityq card project or known as e-KTP until January 2015. The postponement is due to evaluation and improvement.

"We should evaluate, check and secure the system. We will resume the project in January," Minister Kumolo said in Yogyakarta, Sunday, November 16.

His action is based on strong evidence. He found out that e-KTP had dual data base. "It is confusing," he said. Security is another issue. The server of e-KTP data is put abroad. "Our confidentiality is at stake," he said.

He also found millions of fake e-KTP allegedly made in China and France. "My friend reported that he found millions of fake e-KTP in China and France," he said.

During the postponement, government will check all systems on e-KTP so that the ID will be valid. Yet, registration process is still carried out. He said that there were at least 15,000 people who registered per day.
