REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Navy ensures that its radar can detect illegal fishing in Indonesian waters. Detection is made from both permanent and fix radars.

"We have put radar along Malacca Strait. We can detect illegal fishing in the area," Chief of Staff of Indonesian Navy Marsetio said on Tuesday, December 2.

Navy currently has 20 radars. However, they have not put radars in Eastern Indonesia. Navy uses radar-equipped warships to detect the area. Marsetio said that Indonesia Navy had at least 159 ships that patrol in Indonesian waters.

The ships are ready to sink illegal fishers. The Navy cooperates with the Ministry of Maritime and Fishery Affairs to monitor and enforce law in marine.
