REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TANGERANG -- The life conditions of people in Tangerang's fishermen village are still raising concern, Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Minister Marwan Jafar has said.
"The results of our visit to the Tangerang fishermen village showed that the conditions of life of the people in the village is still saddening," the minister said after visiting Muara Village, Tanjung Pasir, Tangerang District, on Sunday.
He explained that besides the shortage of infrastructure and facilities, the fishermen in the village had to compete with each other to have turn to go to fishing. Their catch or fishing areas are still limited while the number of fishing vessels continued to increase.
"The problem existing in the fishermen village is complicated. Villagers have not yet received maximal assistance while no officers have come to improve their lives," he said.
On the occasion, the minister handed over assistance to fishermen and fish processing operators.
The assistance is provided to overcome the problems nowadays and to develop productive endeavors.
Minister Marwan on the occasion handed over assistance in the form of fishing tools, nets and generators. The assistance symbolically handed over to a representative of Surya Bahari village.
