REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia will concentrate on the development of infrastructure to improve connectivity between regions, President Joko Widodo said here on Wednesday (29/4).
"Right now, our focus on the development of infrastructure is clear," he stated in his speech at a meeting on national development planning.
The head of state noted that the 2015 budget would be primarily concentrated on the development of infrastructure in the region, and will cover various sectors, including agriculture.
"Infrastructural development in the agricultural sector will include making improvements to the irrigation network, dams, as well as national, provincial and city road networks, among others," he pointed out.
Other kinds of infrastructural development projects will include the establishment of facilities to connect regions, such as seaports and airports.
Our budget will be primarily allocated for these sectors," the president affirmed.
To mark the implementation of infrastructural development programs, President Joko Widodo revealed that he would hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Trans-Sumatra toll road in Bandar Lampung on April 30.
Furthermore, to support infrastructural development to encourage speedy economic growth, the government will provide funds for regional development based on a presidential instruction scheme, he remarked.
The funding provided will vary from one region to another, and will depend on their respective needs, he explained.
