REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's women's singles player Hanna Ramadhini failed to proceed to the next stage of the qualification round of the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier here on Tuesday, losing to her senior Maria Febe Kusumastuti.
"Febe played more calmly than I did. I also often returned the shuttlecock in the center of the court, which helped her to control the game well," Hanna stated after the match.
Hanna lost to Maria Febe, who is ranked 28th in the world, 17-21, 15-21 in a match lasting an hour and two minutes.
She noted that she would use the result for self-evaluation before participating in the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 2015 in Singapore.
"For the SEA Games, I must be more focused. I still have time to make the necessary improvements," she remarked.
Following her victory over Hanna, Maria will face fellow citizen Dinar Dyah Ayustine before she can qualify for the main round.
Besides Hanna, Dinar, and Febe, there are seven other Indonesian players participating in the qualification round.
In the men's singles, two Indonesian players Jonatan Christie and Sonny Dwi Kuncoro were successfully able to proceed to the second round respectively beating Firman Abdul Kholik 21-16, 19-21, 24-22 and Sattawat Pongnairat from the US, 17-21, 21-13, 21-1.
In the mixed doubles event, only two pairs from the Indonesian team Irfan Fadhilah/Weni Anggraini and Andrei Adistia/Vita Marissa have qualified for the next round.
Irfan Fadhilah/Weni Anggraini beat the South Korean pair of Gi Jung Kim/Shin Seung Chan 22-20, 22-20 in 37 minutes.
Meanwhile, Andrei Adistia/Vita Marissa overpowered the Thai pair of Nipitphon Puangpuapech/Puttia Supajirakul 18-21, 21-11, 21-16 in 46 minutes.
Around 500 shuttlers from more than 20 countries are taking part in the event.
BCA, the sponsor of the event, is offering a total cash prize of Rp10 billion to the title winners.
