REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Members of the Association of Indonesian Young Businessmen (HIPMI) should maintain the prices stability during the holy month of Ramadan 2015, HIPMI chairman has said.
"We have asked all HIPMI members to main the prices stability.
When the price hike occurs, it should still be at a reasonable price level," HIPMI executive board chairman Bahlil Lahadalia said in his written statement received here on Sunday.
According to him, the request to participate in maintaining price stability during the Ramadan, among others, because most HIPMI members engaged in the distribution, retail, and trade.
The price hike before and during the fasting month has become a tradition, but the increase actually can be reduced if the government can conduct surveillance, reducing barriers to distribution, shortening the supply chain, and improve distribution channels before Ramadan, he said.
Lahadalia also said that his side will not tolerate if the HIPMI members is caught stockpiling that lead to soaring prices of goods.
"We will not tolerate and there is sanction to (anyone commits hoarding of goods)," he affirmed.
Currently, HIPMI has about 45,000 members spreading from Sabang in Aceh to Merauke in Papua. They engaged in trade, construction, small and medium enterprises, tourism, finance, creative industry to corporation.
