REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SAMARINDA -- A ferry boat carrying 47 people reportedly capsized at Mahakam River in Kutai Kartanegara district, East Kalimantan, on Sunday morning.
Head of the Kutai Kartanegara District Disaster Mitigation Board Darmansyah confirmed the accident saying 46 passengers survived.
He added that one passenger identified as Sardi was reported missing.
"The ferry boat which also carried two trucks has successfully been removed. We are searching for one passenger who has been reported missing," he said.
It is believed the motor vessel capsized as it was overloaded.
"We don't know the exact cause of the accident as we currently focus on removing the boat and trucks and searching one passenger who was reported missing," he said.
