REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Government and Government of Malaysia agreed to establish a task force to prepare re-hiring program. The program aimed to suppress and prevent illegal migrant workers in Malaysia.

Minister of Manpower, M Hanif Dhakiri, led Indonesian delegation in a meeting with Malaysian delegation which was led by Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia who is also Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia, Dato 'Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Thursday (1/10).

"Re-hiring program will be discussed in more detail and technically by the task force of the two countries. However, the two countries support to suppress and prevent illegal workers in Malaysia," said Hanif, Thursday (1/10).

The funding of the re-hiring program is fully borne by the employer, so it will not add more costs to workers. The charges will be adjusted to the prevailing price in the labor market and will be officially designated by the task force.

In the discussion of re-hiring program, Indonesia wanted a six-month time limit for execution, and then conducted a joint evaluation to measure the effectiveness of this program in reducing the number of illegal workers.
