REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's trade surplus increased significantly in September 2015 to 1.02 billion US dollars from 0.33 billion US dollars in August. This increase in surplus was driven by the drop of imports.

Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia's export value was recorded at 12.53 billion US dollars or fell by 1.55 percent compared to August 2015. It decreased by 17.98 percent compared to September 2014.

While, the imports fell more at 25.95 percent or 11.51 billion US dollars. It decreased by 7.16 percent compared with August 2015.

"Trade surplus in September 2015 was the fourth largest surplus this year," said chairman of BPS, Suryamin, in Jakarta,  Thursday (15/10).

Suryamin revealed, the largest surplus so far this year was occurred in July ie 1.38 billion US dollars. Then it was followed in May of 1.08 billion US dollars and  in March of 1.03 billion US dollars.

Cumulatively, from January to September 2015, Indonesia's trade balance recorded a surplus of 7.13 billion US dollars. This condition was different from the same period last year in which the trade balance recorded a deficit of 1.67 billion US dollars.
