Survey: 54.7 pct disappointed with govt's performance

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian Public Opinion Research and Discussion Group (Kedai Kopi) pointed out its survey that most of the people surveyed were not satisfied with the government of Joko Widodo.

"Our survey indicated that 54.7 percent of the respondents were not satisfied with the performance of the Joko Widodo government," Spokesman of Kedai Kopi Hendri Satrio said in a political discussion here on Sunday.

The survey was conducted to know the satisfaction level of the people on the government of Joko Widodo in the run-up to one year of his administration on Tuesday, October 20, 2015.

Satrio said most of the respondents were not satisfied in three matters, namely high prices of basic necessities (35.5 percent), the weakening of the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar (23.7 percent) and the slow handling of haze (11.8 percent).

"Others are not satisfied with the high price of fuels, limited jobs, bad performance of ministers, expensive health cost and many others," he said.

Satrio who is also a political communications expert of the University of Paramadina said that if the President saw the public dissatisfaction, he would possibly conduct a second cabinet reshuffle.

They survey was conducted on 384 respondents at random across the country. Of the respondents, 52 percent are in Java and the remaining 48 percent outside Java.

It was carried out on September 14 - 17, 2015 through a telephone conversation. "Margin of error is about five percent with the confidence level of 95 percent," he said.
