Ridwan Kamil prepares Rp 100 billion to build smart city

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Bandung City Government allocated Rp 100 billion for construction of smart city in 2016. This year, the budget for smart city of Bandung was still Rp 25 billion.

"Bandung smart city is projected to be completed within three years since 2014," said Mayor of Bandung, Ridwan Kamil, Saturday (24/10).

According to a man who is familiarly called Emil, Smart city was built to convert manual affairs to digital. It started from demographic problems, such as ID card registration and citizens' complaints.

To be a smart city, he added, Bandung currently has 320 of 1,000 applications required. As an illustration, Singapore as a smart city had 1,600 applications, from demography to traffic.

"Bandung is now preparing a special coding team to meet the needs of the application," he explained.

Emil admitted, a smart city was not only required the existence of applications. However, infrastructure and human sources (HR) support were also required.
